My journey started in 2003 while I was pregnant with my first son. I knew I didn’t want to be away from my baby; especially to a full-time job where I was unhappy. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, not going back was not an option. I started my search for online work and continued to look off and on for years. Unfortunately, I never found anything that I felt was legit and I would be content doing it.
Fast forward to March 2020 when the Covid pandemic hit. By this time, I had 3 boys and was working part-time but I was still looking for a virtual position. In June, I was put in contact with Kathy Goughenour and I spoke to her about her Virtual Assistant/Virtual Expert® Training Program. After discussing it with my husband, we decided that I would take the leap. I was excited and a bit nervous. I was happy to discover though that my excitement outweighed my fears.
In July I officially started Kathy’s program. The program is set up by lessons to complete in a certain order. Since I was still laid off due to Covid, I was able to move through the lessons fairly quickly. When it came time to pick what services I wanted to start out offering, I chose email and calendar management services. Because of my love of organization, this was an easy and obvious choice. I worked on the courses and 4 months into the Training Program, I found my first paying client!
I have met so many wonderful people in Kathy’s group. It has truly been a life-changing experience for me. I’ve not only learned how to make my business successful but I have learned so much about myself. In November, I completed my training and on December 14, 2020, I got my official notice…I was a Certified Virtual Expert®!!
