Can Your Personality Influence Your Inbox?

I recently came across an article from 2020 by Shana Lebowitz and Allana Akhtar regarding a possible link between personality and how you manage your inbox. It was an interesting read and led me to wonder if my own personality traits directly correlate with how I handle my own inbox. (Spoiler alert – they do!)

If an inbox is well-organized and complete with labels and color coding, it may suggest an organized person who values order and efficiency. On the other hand, if an inbox is disorganized and has a mix of read and unread emails, it may suggest a less organized and maybe a more relaxed individual.

Taking it a step further, people with different personalities often use different language and tone when sending emails. This can affect how their messages are received. We have all gotten an email message and immediately get angry or annoyed. But did you go back and re-read it and think that maybe it was just how YOU read it?

Another factor to think about is people with different personalities may have different expectations or preferences when it comes to inbox organization, response times, and other inbox-related matters. What one person feels is a priority may not be the same for another.

So what do you think? Do you think your own personality traits coincide with how you handle your inbox?
